Who says Boise isn’t a music powerhouse? We say: here’s proof. Youth Lagoon wittingly balances catchy pop tunes against hazy lo fi aesthetics, keeping it on the current repeat cycle. Their debut release, The Year of Hibernation, is set to hit digital airwaves sometime this summer, but until then you can find solace in downloading both tracks available on their bandcamp site. “July” starts slow, building up of tempo and airy vocals against a steady and driving synth beat, and finally gets down to business, playful vocals and captivating rhythm a melding perfectly. Can only hope they be making their way down to LA sometime soon, I have a feeling this is something that needs to be seen live.
